Q: How can I monitor the camera on a Remote Computer?

A: Plug the RJ45 cable from the back of DVR to the Switch / Hub or Router.

By Default the network setting on this DVR are as follow:

IP ADDRESS: 192.168.1.167

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.1.1

You don’t have to change this setting unless your Local Area Network is using different Subnet.

Go to Network Setup in the MENU and go to N/W ENABLE and TURN ON all the Channels. By turn this ON, you are allowing to access this DVR from networking / internet.

Then refer to the manual of your Router, go to the Router Setup and you need to do PORT FORWARDING which is port 5000-5002 to the IP: 192.168.1.167.

CHECK THIS LINK FOR COMPLETE INFORMATION ON PORT FORWARDING:

http://www.portforward.com/default.htm

if you have LINKSYS router, here the picture of port forwarding

On the PC Client, install the CD comes with this DVR. Simply run the SETUP.EXE. it will install program called NET VIEWER.  Once installed, run this program , by default ID is “admin” and password is “admin”.

Click on SETUP and enter the IP address of your Internet (this is the IP of the internet where the DVR located). You can check your IP by going to www.myipaddress.com . Port is 5000. OK and OK again. You are now connecting to the DVR unit.

If your IP is a Dynamic IP which can be changed time to time, either you contact your ISP to get a Static IP or you can get a Domain Name free from www.no-ip.com . Register with them and get a domain name and an updater software (read their support page) With this domain name, you dont have to worry about IP changed. So once you get the domain name, in NETVIEWER setup program, just insert the domain name instead of IP address. it is like http://myname.no-ip.com
